Prepare to embark on an extraordinary underwater journey! The much-anticipated Singapore Oceanarium, a reimagined and expanded version of the former S.E.A. Aquarium, is set to open its doors on 23 July 2025 at Resorts World Sentosa. Three times larger than its predecessor, this world-class marine institute promises to redefine how we experience and connect with the ocean. With 22 immersive zones, cutting-edge technology, and a bold mission to inspire marine education and conservation, the Singapore Oceanarium is poised to be a must-visit destination for families, adventurers, and ocean enthusiasts alike. Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting new attraction!

A New Era of Ocean Exploration

The Singapore Oceanarium isn’t merely an aquarium—it’s a transformative experience designed to deepen your knowledge, love, and commitment to our oceans. Following a three-month refurbishment, this revamped attraction spans a vast area, offering a journey through space and time—from shallow coastal waters to the mysterious deep sea, and from prehistoric oceans to vibrant modern ecosystems. Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) has invested years of planning into this bold transformation, creating a landmark institute dedicated to marine education, research, and conservation.

22 Immersive Zones to Explore

With 22 carefully crafted thematic zones, the Singapore Oceanarium takes you on a captivating adventure:

  • Ocean Wonders: Step into a mesmerising world of thousands of glowing moon jellies, housed in one of the world’s largest kreisel habitats—a circular tank with a gentle current ideal for delicate marine life like jellyfish.

  • Singapore’s Coast: Discover native biodiversity through mangrove-inspired landscapes and interactive habitats, bringing Singapore’s coastal ecosystems to life without a trek to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve.

  • Ancient Waters & Conquering Land: Travel back in time to encounter life-sized prehistoric creatures and living fossils, tracing the fascinating story of marine evolution.

  • Open Ocean: Marvel at reef manta rays, zebra sharks, and thousands of other marine animals gliding through a breathtaking 36-metre-wide viewing panel, immersing you in the endless blue.

  • Whale Fall & Sea Mount: Explore a life-sized recreation of a deep-sea whale fall ecosystem, revealing how new life emerges from the ocean’s depths.

  • Hallway of Hope: Be inspired by real-world conservation success stories, sparking hope and action for the future of our oceans.

From interactive displays to multisensory storytelling and immersive digital technology, each zone is designed to ignite curiosity and forge a powerful emotional connection with the marine world.

A Centre for Marine Research and Conservation

Beyond its stunning exhibits, the Singapore Oceanarium is a purpose-driven institute committed to advancing marine science and sustainability. Adjacent to the main attraction, the new Research and Learning Centre—a Green Mark Platinum Zero Energy building powered by solar energy—features immersive learning labs, collaborative workspaces, seminar rooms, and a rooftop event space. This state-of-the-art facility supports groundbreaking research through partnerships, including a five-year collaboration with the National University of Singapore and a two-year project with the Earth Observatory of Singapore at Nanyang Technological University, focusing on climate resilience and marine conservation. Accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and holding memberships in the World and Southeast Asian Zoo and Aquarium Associations, the Oceanarium is a regional leader in protecting our oceans.

Fun for the Whole Family

The Singapore Oceanarium offers more than just education—it’s a fun-filled adventure! Walk across the suspended web at Pier Adventure for a unique view of marine-inspired surroundings, or take a break at Explorer’s Nook, a themed café with marine-inspired pastries and light bites. Before you leave, stop by the Singapore Oceanarium Store for sustainable keepsakes, ocean-themed apparel, educational books, and exclusive seasonal pop-ups by local brands. These family-friendly experiences make it a perfect day out for visitors of all ages.
