On the crisp morning of July 4th, 2024, we had the delightful opportunity to dive into the flavourful wonders of the World Food Fair at Singapore EXPO Hall 4. Celebrating its 19th edition, this year’s fair promised an expansive showcase from across the globe, and it did not disappoint.
A Feast for the Senses
The fair was a bustling hive of activity, with the vibrant stalls of China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, and many more inviting guests into a maze of tantalizing aromas and colourful displays. Each booth offered a slice of its homeland, serving up both traditional and fusion dishes that exemplified the spirit of their cuisines.
One of the highlights was the Malaysian booth, where the laksa lemak particularly stood out with its rich, spicy coconut broth—a comforting bowl that beckoned for a second helping. From India, the chaat counter was irresistible, offering a burst of tangy and spicy flavors that danced on the palate. Meanwhile, the Chinese stalls showcased an impressive dim sum spread, each dumpling more exquisite than the last.
Interactive Flavourful Delights
What set this year apart were the interactive experiences. The live cooking demonstrations were a crowd-puller, with chefs from various backgrounds sharing their kitchen secrets and engaging the audience with their charismatic presentations. These sessions were not only educational but also a feast for the senses.

More Than Just Food
The fair wasn't all about eating. There were daily draws and plenty of opportunities to win goodie bags loaded with gourmet products. The first day's excitement was palpable as attendees buzzed around, hoping to win some of the fabulous prizes. Exclusive WOW Deals at 2 PM offered incredible bargains like Salted Egg Fish Skin or Potato Chips for just SGD $0.50, usually priced at SGD $7.60. Visitors also stood a chance to win air tickets to destinations like Hong Kong, Seoul, Taipei, and Tokyo by spending at least SGD $50 across three receipts.
A Family Affair
The event was a fantastic outing for families. Parents and children alike were seen enjoying the fair, with kids trying out new foods and participating in some of the fun, food-related games set up by the organizers. It was heartwarming to see the younger generation being introduced to such a diverse range of foods and cultures.
