Why Kichi Kichi Omurice is a Global Phenomenon

If you’ve scrolled through social media, you’ve likely drooled over Chef Motokichi’s mesmerising omurice videos. His signature move? A swift slice through a jiggly, golden omelette, revealing a creamy, flowing centre that blankets perfectly seasoned demi-glace fried rice like an edible waterfall. It’s no surprise his 14-seat Kyoto restaurant is a foodie mecca, with bookings snapped up in seconds! With over 314,000 Instagram followers and a cult following, Chef Motokichi’s quirky charm, red beret, and culinary showmanship have turned a humble Japanese-Western dish into a worldwide sensation.

What’s Coming to Singapore?

Starting 10 July 2025, Tsukimi Hamburg’s three outlets (CapitaSpring, Hougang Mall, and Jurong Point) will introduce two exclusive Kichi Kichi dishes as permanent menu additions:

  • Kichi Kichi Omurice (SGD $12.80): A purist’s delight with demi-glace fried rice, edamame, and chicken, topped with a mesmerising “tornado-style” omelette that’s creamier and oozier than any you’ve tried.

  • Kichi Kichi Hamburg Omurice (SGD $16.80): Elevate the experience with a juicy hamburg steak alongside the signature tornado omelette and demi-glace fried rice.

Unlike the Kyoto original’s “avalanche” style, Singapore’s version features a swirled, tornado-shaped omelette for consistency—still crafted with Chef Motokichi’s rich, slow-cooked demi-glace sauce. It’s comfort food with a side of spectacle!

The Main Event: Meet Chef Motokichi in Person!

Fancy seeing the maestro himself? On 11 and 12 July 2025, Chef Motokichi will host exclusive cooking showcases at Tsukimi Hamburg’s Jurong Point outlet from 7 PM to 9 PM. Watch him whip up his iconic omurice—complete with his signature song, dance, and egg-flipping theatrics—for just 20 diners per session.
