Hey foodies! If you're a fan of K-dramas, K-pop, or just straight-up crave that unique Korean twist on classic fast food, we've got some sizzling news that's sure to whet your appetite. South Korea's beloved burger chain, Lotteria, is finally making its grand entrance into the Lion City. After months of anticipation (and a slight delay), the first outlet is slated to open in February 2026. Mark your calendars, because this could be the start of a delicious new chapter in Singapore's fast-food scene!

A Quick Bite on Lotteria: From Seoul Streets to Global Fame

For those who haven't had the pleasure yet, Lotteria isn't your average burger joint. It's a cultural icon in South Korea. Founded in 1972 in Japan by Korean entrepreneur Shin Kyuk-ho, the chain truly took off when it expanded to Seoul in 1979 under the Lotte Corporation umbrella (hence the name: Lotte + Cafeteria). Today, Lotteria boasts over 1,600 outlets worldwide, with more than 1,300 in South Korea alone, and a growing presence in countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Mongolia, and even a brand-new spot in the US (their first American outlet opened in Fullerton, California, just last month on August 14, 2025).

What sets Lotteria apart? It's all about that Korean flair. Think juicy burgers infused with flavours like bulgogi (sweet and savory marinated beef), spicy T-Rex chicken patties, or crispy shrimp burgers that scream innovation. They've got the classics. Fries, fried chicken, and shakes, but with a Seoul-inspired edge, including seasonal specials and localised twists. In Korea, it's not uncommon to find kimchi-topped burgers or rice burgers for those carb-craving moments. And let's not forget their cult-favourite sides like cheese sticks and squid rings. It's fast food, but elevated with that umami-packed Korean essence that keeps locals lining up.

The Singapore Scoop: Partnership, Delay, and Big Plans Ahead

The buzz started back in October 2024 when Singapore-based F&B powerhouse Katrina Group announced they'd be bringing Lotteria here, with an initial target of Q2 2025. But as with many exciting launches, there was a hiccup. A delay pushed the debut to February 2026. On August 25, 2025, Katrina Group and Lotte GRS (Lotteria's parent company) officially inked the franchise and development agreements, sealing the deal for multiple outlets across the island.

As for the first outlet? Details are still under wraps. No location announced yet, but expect more reveals as we get closer to the opening. The plan is to roll out several stores in prime spots, adapting the menu with signature items plus potential Singapore exclusives. Imagine a laksa-inspired burger or a chili crab twist. Who knows? We're hoping for those seasonal specials to keep things fresh and exciting.

What to Expect on the Menu: A Teaser of Korean Delights

While the full Singapore menu is TBA, based on Lotteria's global hits, here's a sneak peek at what might grace our tables:

- Bulgogi Burger: Tender beef marinated in soy sauce, garlic, and sesame. Sweet, savoury, and way better than your standard beef patty.

- T-Rex Burger: A spicy chicken fillet with pepper sauce for those who like a kick.

- Shrimp Burger: Crispy shrimp patties with tangy sauce. Perfect for seafood lovers.

- Cheese No Bun Burger: For the low-carb crowd, this one's all about layers of melted cheese wrapping your patty.

- Rice Burgers: A fun twist with rice buns instead of bread, stuffed with bulgogi or veggies.

- Sides and More: Don't sleep on the fried mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, or even their "rice and spaghetti" section (seen in Vietnam outlets) for something truly unique.

Prices? We'll have to wait and see, but expect them to be competitive with the likes of McDonald's or Burger King. Affordable fast food with a premium Korean vibe. And with Katrina's local expertise, there might be halal options or tweaks to suit Singapore's diverse tastes.

Get Ready to Bite into the Hype!

February 2026 can't come soon enough! Lotteria's entry is a win for burger enthusiasts and K-food fans alike, promising a fresh take on fast food that's equal parts familiar and exciting. Whether you're queuing up on opening day or waiting for the hype to die down, this could be the Korean comfort food we've been missing.

What do you think? Excited for Lotteria, or sticking to your usual suspects? Stay hungry, Singapore!
